Lompoc police investigate 2 shootings on Saturday

LOMPOC, Calif. - The Lompoc Police Department responded to and investigated two separate shootings on Saturday, Feb. 29. No one was killed during the shootings, but one man was injured.

A shooting was called in around 9:54 p.m. near Hwy 1 Liquor on H Street. Some officers who were near the area confirmed also hearing the gunshots.

Police went to the location but did not immediately find any victims or suspects. About five minutes later, a man with a single gunshot wound reportedly showed up at the Lompoc Hospital. He is considered to be in stable condition at this time.

Lompoc police and detectives are investigating this shooting and suspect it could be gang related.

A second shooting was called in earlier around 11:43 a.m. on Saturday. A victim said his vehicle was damaged when unknown people shot at it.

Police said this incident happened near the intersection of E Chestnut Avenue and N D STreet.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of this shooting. No suspects have been identified at this time.

Police are investigating this second shooting as a "malicious and willful discharge of a firearm at an occupied motor vehicle."
