Santa Barbara County Fire Department contains Tuesday morning vegetation fire near Goleta

GOLETA, Calif. – Santa Barbara County Fire Department has stopped the forward progress of a fire that burned around a quarter of an acre near the edge of the Los Padres National Forest Tuesday morning.

The burned area is largely in an avocado orchard on a private ranch in the 1000 block of N. Patterson Road and no structures have been reported as threatened detail Santa Barbara County Fire Department.

According to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department, a gopher eradication device has been determined to have caused the fire.

Crews remain on the scene to monitor the fire and clean up from the response.
