Santa Barbara police make an arrest following early morning stabbing

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – Around 6:35 a.m. on Jan. 29, 9-1-1 calls about a stabbing victim near Anacapa and De La Guerra Streets brought emergency responders to help a middle-aged man suffering from stab wounds to his neck.

The man was transported to Cottage hospital and received medical assistance for his injuries.

Officers from the Community Action Team assisted patrol officers and detectives by connecting with members of the Santa Barbara homeless community who provided information leading to an arrest.

Mitchell Grant Grote was arrested for attempted homicide and booked at Santa Barbara County jail on a $1,000,000 bail.

There are no suspects outstanding in this investigation according to Santa Barbara Police Department.
