Calling all local non-profits: Goleta opens application period for funding

City of Goleta

GOLETA, Calif. – Starting Friday, Dec. 16, the City of Goleta is accepting online applications from local non-profits and community serving groups to access a pool of more than $250,000.

Grant applications for both funding sources are accepted online at ZoomGrants program and will be accepted until Jan. 27, 2023.

Recipients of funds from the Goleta General Fund may get up to $5000 for programs that benefit residents and support the quality of life in the local area as well as Goleta-orientated events.

The City Council of Goleta has set aside approximately $100,000 in General Fund money and $150,000 from the American Rescue Plan Act.

Funding through Community Development Grants are geared towards non-profits serving low-income residents, seniors and people experiencing homelessness and are disbursed by U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development which regulates the use of these funds.

After the application period, a committee made up of the Mayor, the Mayor Pro Tempore, and two Goleta residents appointed by the Mayor will evaluate and make funding recommendations to the City Council.

The Goleta City Council said it will award grants at a meeting in the spring, possibly in May of 2023.

For more information on both grant programs, follow this link or contact Shanna Dawson of the Goleta Neighborhood Services Department at 805-690-5126 or sdawson@cityofgoleta.org.
