Goats help people learn yoga
SANTA BARBARA, Calif -- Goat yoga. The fitness trend surfaced Saturday in Downtown Santa Barbara. Five goats helped newbies and experienced yogis stretch and enjoy yoga at The Hotel Californian in Santa Barbara.
The goats were from the Los Angeles-based company YoGoat LA, which since 2017 has brought their goats to help people get introduced to hiking and yoga.
Yogi Monica Cooper lead Saturday's goat yoga class. She said there is a difference between normal yoga and goat yoga. "A little bit deeper than stress therapy, kind of stress reduction. Helping people come into a playful state, reducing anxiety and stress. And just having fun. So it's a very beginner level yoga. But it's all about the experience with the goats."
The Hotel Californian hosts goat yoga every third Saturday of the month. It costs $10 per one hour class with the four-legged friends.
