SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Local children will feel a major side effect of the Cave Fire as the need for law enforcement officers rises, taking them away from a favorite Holiday tradition.

Organizers of the Santa Barbara Toy Run, a popular event that draws hundreds of local motorcycle riders and law enforcement hauling loads of new toys for local children, were forced to postpone -- not cancel -- the ride.

The event was scheduled to take place Sunday, December 1. Riders spend hours collecting donated toys from local fire stations, then delivering them to the Unity Shoppe for the Holidays for families in need.

The following information was sent via e-mail blast:

Due to the events of this week in our community, we must POSTPONE this annual ride for a later date.

Police escort is not available due their commitments as a result of the CAVE fire.

If you have a toy to donate, please feel free to bring it to 1401 Chapala Street, December 2nd - December 14th
.

Those of you who pre-registered, please know you will receive a separate email with more information.  To volunteer or if have any questions, please feel free to send us an email:  toyrun@unityshoppe.org
