Laguna Lake Park in San Luis Obispo closed to the public due to weapons offenses Tuesday
SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – The San Luis Obispo Police Department closed Laguna Lake Park Tuesday afternoon due to a weapons arrest they made at 4:45 p.m.
The entrance to the park is closed and the public was asked to avoid the area due to police activity through a tweet from the San Luis Obispo Police Department when the incident was initially called.
A transient San Luis Obispo man reportedly had a firearm in his hand. He also was investigated for having shot pellets within the park with another pellet gun in his possession, according to the San Luis Obispo Police Department.
The 40-year-old had a firearm, stun gun, pellet gun and a throwing star in his possession before after officers arrested him without incident, explained the San Luis Obispo Police Department.
The San Luis Obispo Police man was later arrested and booked into the San Luis Obispo County Jail under the following charges:
- PC 22410 – possession of a shuriken (throwing star), felony
- PC 22610 – convicted felon in possession of a stun gun, misdemeanor
- SLMC 9.16.020 A – discharge of a dangerous weapon, misdemeanor
