San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office filing charges against three in connection to November 2022 Lopez Lake shooting

SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY, Calif. – San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office is filing charges against an Oceano man in connection with a shooting at Lopez Lake in November of 2022.

Those new charges are involuntary manslaughter, using a firearm in the commission of a felony, and making a false crime report.

The 22-year-old Oceano man was already in custody on an unrelated drive-by shooting case detail San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office.

According to San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office, two others are being charged as accessories including filing a false police report. One of those men is an Oceano resident awaiting arraignment on these new charges and the other is still outstanding.

On Nov. 4, 2022, San Luis Obispo Sheriff's Office deputies responded to Arroyo Grande Community Hospital where 28-year-old Arroyo Grande resident Alexander Montero Pille had arrived with a gunshot wound and later died from his injuries.

The men charged Thursday in relation to this incident were present at the time, transported Pille to the hospital, and initially reported Pille's injuries were related to a road rage incident detail San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office.

After an investigation, Sheriff's deputies determined that the three men were in the vehicle with Pille and that the shooting was unrelated to a road rage incident.

After that determination, the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office turned to the public for help.

After reviewing the case, the San Luis Obispo County District Attorney's Office filed charges against the three men.
