During the trial, testimony revealed that two good Samaritans who were at the Elks Lodge saw the smoke from the intentionally lit fire and attempted to extinguish the flames.
According to testimony from one of those good Samaritans, Parrish confronted him as he grabbed a shovel to battle the flames and told him to not put the fire out and that he would fight him if he did not have a shovel.
Following the reading of the guilty verdict, Parrish admitted that he had been convicted of arson on four previous occasions and now faces a mandatory sentence of 25 years to life in prison due to California's three strikes sentencing law detail San Luis Obispo District Attorney's Office.
According to the San Luis Obispo County District Attorney's Office, Parrish is scheduled for a sentencing hearing on Sep. 19 of this year and will remain in the custody of the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office until then.
