Frightened pony in Templeton Independence Day parade jumps into crowd, injuring one woman
TEMPLETON, Calif. – A frightened pony pulling a cart with two people in the Templeton Independence Day parade injured a 61-year-old woman when it ran into the assembled crowd on Tuesday.
According to the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office, a pony participating in Templeton's Independence Day parade was spooked and drove into the crowd in the 600 block of Crocker Street around 11 a.m.
The shaft that attached the cart to the pony's harness impaled the thigh of a 61-year-old woman watching the parade detail San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office.
Templeton Fire and Emergency Services detail the injured woman was transported to Sierra Regional Medical Center in stable condition.
The two people in the pony-pulled cart were uninjured state San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office.
While Sheriff's Deputies, Templeton firefighters, and San Luis Obispo Ambulance paramedics treated the injured 61-year-old, the parade was diverted to another street.
