SLO County Board of Supervisors approve $33.3 million contract for new Probation Department site
SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – The County of San Luis Obispo Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a $33,296,693 contract to F&H Construction to design and build a new Probation Department building.
The new, 30,000 square foot facility will be located near the current probation facility on Bishop Street in San Luis Obispo.
The Board of Supervisors decision authorized the start of final design plans.
The design and permitting process is expected to take nine months with groundbreaking ceremonies in early 2024.
Robert Reyes, the County of San Luis Obispo Chief Probation Officer said, “The new building will address long-time needs for employees and allow the department to better serve the community and more effectively deliver probation services to the justice-involved population."
The current Probations Department's main office, also known as Casa Loma, on Bishop Street was built in 1940.
