Atascadero Fire and Emergency Services respond to a fire at a residence on Balboa Road

ATASCADERO, Calif. – Atascadero Fire and Emergency Services responded to a structure fire at 7570 Balboa Rd. in Atascadero. The single occupant safely evacuated and no other buildings were impacted.

Several local agencies responded to the call of a structure fire around 9:58 a.m. on Jan. 20 including: Atascadero Fire, Atascadero Police, Paso Robles Fire, Templeton Fire, Cambria Ambulance, Atascadero State Hospital Fire and Cal Fire.

A fire started in the residence's living room, according to Atascadero Fire, and the single occupant was able to safely get out with her two dogs.

Responders were able to limit the fire damage to the living room, though smoke damage occurred throughout the entire two-story structure.

Balboa Road between Ardilla and San Fernando was temporarily closed while firefighters engaged the flames.

Crews remained on scene for the next four hours to fully extinguish the fire and assist with clean up and salvage.

The Atascadero Fire Department Staff conducted an investigation and concluded the cause was "electrical in nature."
