Nearly 10 thousand gallons of sewage spilled in Monday’s Morro Bay Creek leak

City of Morro Bay

MORRO BAY, Calif.– Nearly 10,000 gallons of sewage leaked into Morro Creek over a twelve-hour period on Monday.

The county of San Luis Obispo Public Health Department urges the public to avoid the ocean and large bodies of water following not only storm runoff, but the sewage leak in the area.

The spill began at 11 a.m. Monday due to the heavy rainfall and was contained by 11 p.m. resulting in 9,900 gallons of sewage leaking into the creek. Coming in contact with infected and contaminated water can cause severe sickness through waterborne bacteria.
