The California Department of Transportation will be limiting closure plans overnight this week on the northbound lanes of highway 101 for pavement grinding.

SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY, Calif.– Highway 1 on the Big Sur Coast from elephant seal viewing area 10 miles south of Ragged Point SLO to south of Deetjen’s Big Sur Inn in Monterey County reopens from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, according to CalTrans District 5.

Due to the recent storm, Ragged Point is no longer accessible due to a debris slide at Polar Star. The time frame is to take advantage of the break in rain and allow residents who now need to leave the closure area and those within the closure area to resupply for an extended closure of Highway 1.

Highway 1 will remain closed for the next ten days after 5 p.m. Friday in preparation for more heavy rain and damages.
