Paso Robles issues evacuation order for Salinas Riverbed before heavy rains

PASO ROBLES, Calif. – An evacuation warning has been issued for the Salinas Riverbed in Paso Robles before the arrival of large rainstorms.

Significant rain can cause the river's levels to rise rapidly and pose a danger to anyone in the area according to the city government.

The heaviest rain is expected Wednesday night Jan. 4 into Thursday Jan. 5.

Rain is not the only thing to expect from the forecasted storms. Wind gusts over 60 miles per hour are also expected and the public is warned to watch for downed trees and power lines.

If you encounter a downed power line, avoid contact with surrounding water.

Potential power outages are also expected. To report an outage, call Pacific Gas and Electric at 1-800-743-5002 or visit their website by clicking this link.
