59-year-old arrested in stand-off with Atascadero Police

ATASCADERO, Calif.– Atascadero Police Department reported a brief stand-off between officers and a 59-year-old man who had broken into an abandoned building and armed himself with a five-foot long stick in the 6500 block of Morro Road.

Atascadero Police officers alongside SLO Deputies attempted to de-escalate the situation from outside the building upon arrival to the scene and reports the man trespassed into an abandoned building at 3:02 p.m. Wednesday. Upon refusal to communicate with law enforcement, Atascadero PD entered the premise and apprehended the man via the use of San Luis Obispo Sheriff's K-9 and taser force.

The 59-year-old sustained stab wounds in the altercation of his arrest and was taken to Twin Cities Community Hospital for his injuries. Once medically able, they will be transported the San Luis Obispo County Jail on charges of terrorist threats, burglary assault and resisting arrest.
