Grover Beach police warns of counterfeit hundred dollar bills flying around

GROVER BEACH, Calif. -- Grover Beach Police Department is warning its residents of fake hundred dollar bills flying around the area.

On Wednesday morning, a man came to the police department and turned in a bundle of hundred dollar bills that he found on his morning walk.

At around the same time, officers were dispatched to reports of numerous of hundred dollar bills blowing in the wind down Grand Avenue.

Officers arrived to the scene of the report and began collective the money flying around.

Officers then determined that the money was counterfeit.

Officers are currently collecting all the bills they could find in the area.

The police department is encouraging anyone that may find this money to call the dispatch center at 805-473-4511. Officers will arrive and collect the counterfeit bills.

The police department also warns businesses to be aware and double check all currency bills.
