Rattlesnakes may have made their way to Carpinteria beaches during the recent storms

CARPINTERIA, Calif. -  If you're walking through or picking up driftwood on the Carpinteria area beaches, the city says watch for rattlesnakes.

Apparently there's been at least one sighting of a rattlesnake that's made it to the coast when the driftwood came down in the recent storms.

According to longtime residents, this is not the only time this has happened after a big storm that has brought down material from the nearby foothills.

So far there are no reports of snake bites.

The City of Carpinteria has put out an advisory on its social media sites.
