Woman killed in Santa Maria structure fire

SANTA MARIA, Calif. - One woman is dead after a structure fire at an apartment complex Friday afternoon.

The fire happened around 12:30 p.m. near the 200 Block of Carmen Lane.

Upon arrival, fire crews found the woman in bed.

Firefighters said there is moderate smoke and fire damage to the apartment complex.

Both the Santa Maria Fire Department and the Santa Maria Police Department are investigating the cause of the fire.
