Summer in Solvang is busy despite the heat
SOLVANG, Calif.-This is a busy time of year for Solvang.
The Danish Village is still a busy tourist and locals stop along the Central Coast.
"We still have over 300 people coming in a day, so that is pretty good for a heat wave," said Visitors Center Ambassador Jeanie Wulff, " But I remember when it was 110 and our air conditioner broke down."
The high in Solvang was in the mid 90s.
Wulff said she thinks it will start cooling off in a couple of weeks.
The heat didn't stop people from the trying the town's famous treats including aebleskivers.
The Aebleskivehuset served trios of pancake balls with ice cream.
Thorbjorn and Amalie Kaerskov are brother and sister and work at the family owned business.
They had a line out the door at times.
Other visitors opted for cold beers in local beer gardens.
Fred Gore rode his Harley up the 154 to the Santa Ynez Valley.
He said it was even hot on his bike.
He brought a towel and a water bottle and stopped at a scenic spot to cool off before heading home to Goleta.
Staying hydrated is a must.
