Orcutt Academy High School celebrates seniors during cap and gown distribution drive-thru
ORCUTT, Calif. - Orcutt Academy High School handed out caps and gown to graduating seniors on Tuesday.
Staff and teachers were at the school to greet students in a drive-thru line in the parking lot.
Each senior took home their cap and gown, along with a few other surprises like class of 2020 yard signs.
Students and staff say graduation is filled with more mixed feelings that usual.
"It's kind of sad because you always prepare to graduate onstage, so it's just a little different this year obviously. And like the class of 2020, I always looked forward to it just because of the year 2020, so it's a little devastating," Vanessa Salazar, Orcutt Academy senior said.
The school is planning graduation right now. Administrators plan to release those plans later this week.
"This is not how they would have chosen to do it. But the way they've dealt with it shows me they're ready for life after high school. They're ready for success at the next level because they understand that life just gives you things that you have to adjust to," Orcutt Academy Principal Rhett Carter said.
