Deadline approaches for Grover Beach businesses to apply for microgrants

GROVER BEACH, Calif. – Friday is the deadline for Grover Beach business owners to apply for microgrants. Each business approved will get up to $5,000.

The one time grant can be put toward salaries, rent, personal protective gear or any other modifications needed to comply with COVID-19 guidelines.

Business owner Julia Powers was one of the recipients in the first round. She says her store was closed for three months and had no source of income to pay for her rent, but that changed thanks to the first round of microgrants. The additional $5,000 helped her business stay afloat.

“Overall, it’s been very helpful and for them to do it again, I think there are a lot of small businesses that could use the help,” said Powers.
