Oxnard man sentenced to life in prison for attempting to murder four peace officers

VENTURA, Calif. - A Ventura County judge sentenced an Oxnard man for attempted murder on four peace officers.
Augustine Rincon Medina, 55, was sentenced to four consecutive life sentences, plus 145 years in prison, for a countywide shooting rampage he committed on October 24, 2011.
On November 6, a jury convicted Medina of four counts of premeditated, willful and deliberate attempt to murder two Oxnard police officers and two Sheriff's deputies.
Medina was also charged with five additional felonies.
Five separate crime scenes were analyzed by the Ventura County Sheriff's Office, the Oxnard Police Department and the Ventura County Sheriff's Forensic Sciences Laboratory.
