Sex offender arrested for prowling in Grover Beach
GROVER BEACH, Calif. - A convicted sex offender was arrested Friday morning after police say he was prowling outside of a Grover Beach home.
At 6:40 a.m., police officers responded to the 1100 block of Refugio Court for a report of a prowler outside a home. A man contacted police after seeing a man in his neighbor's yard.
The neighbor continued to watch the prowler and officers were able to track him down and take him into custody.
Police identified the man as Richard Eugene Parson, 43, of San Luis Obispo. Parson is a convicted a sex offender.
Parson was captured on several home security cameras on the southside of Grover Beach, standing outside homes and sometimes looking through windows. He is believed to have been hanging around the area of Rose Court and La Selva Avenue in addition to Refugio Court.
The Grover Beach Police Department is asking residents to check their home security footage from Thursday night and early Friday morning to see if there is additional footage of Parson. If you find anything, you are asked to contact the police dispatch center at 805-473-4511. An officer will come speak with you and gather the video.
Parson was booked into the San Luis Obispo County Jail for two counts of Prowling and one count of False Identity to a Peace Officer.
