ORCUTT, Calif. - Law enforcement officers surrounded Orcutt Burger Friday evening after reports came in that a man may have been armed near the restaurant, but investigators say it was a misunderstanding.

Reports came in around 5 p.m. that a man was acting erratically and may have had a gun.

An employee told a KCOY 12 crew at the scene that the man was inside the restaurant, which had been evacuated.

Investigators later said it was a misunderstanding and that the man had some sort of medical condition. They say he was just carrying a cell phone and was not actually armed with any weapon.

Investigators said there was no danger to the public as of about 5:45 p.m. They said they were conducting interviews with witnesses, and were in the process of clearing the scene.

Earlier in the evening, Santa Maria police and Santa Barbara County sheriff's deputies were seen in the surrounding area with their guns drawn.

A stretch of Bradley was closed, but traffic was still flowing through the intersection at Clark and Bradley.
