SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (KEYT) — A Santa Barbara-based humanitarian organization has earned national recognition for its financial accountability and global relief efforts.

Direct Relief received a perfect 100% rating from Charity Navigator for 2026, marking its 16th consecutive year earning the nonprofit evaluator’s highest four-star rating.

The organization is one of just three charities nationwide to receive perfect scores across every category on Charity Navigator’s Best Highly Rated Charities list.

The evaluation measures financial responsibility, organizational leadership, transparency and the effectiveness of charitable programs.

The recognition follows another year of international humanitarian assistance.

During the fiscal year ending June 30, 2026, Direct Relief delivered $1.8 billion in medicines and medical supplies, valued at wholesale, along with $59 million in grants.

Its assistance reached more than 2,700 healthcare facilities across all 50 states and 94 countries.

The organization has also supported medical responses to disasters, disease outbreaks and humanitarian emergencies worldwide.

“Every gift to Direct Relief represents the trust donors place in us to make a meaningful difference in someone’s life,” said Direct Relief CEO Amy Weaver.

The latest rating comes ahead of the year-end charitable giving season, when donors may be evaluating how organizations manage contributions and deliver assistance.

Founded in 1948, Direct Relief is headquartered in Santa Barbara and provides medical assistance to communities affected by poverty and emergencies.
