No Kings March Focuses on Early Voting

No Kings: Vote Early march and rally sends message to voters to cast their ballots

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (KEYT) – 'No Kings: Vote Early' rally and marches took place on Saturday, just weeks from Election Day.

One of the largest march and rallies took place in Santa Barbara, where people marched from Alameda Park to Santa Barbara City Hall.

They marched about a quarter mile in the hot sun, searching for shade once participants got to the De La Guerra Plaza.

Myron Emery had a sign with "No Kings" painted on one side and "Vote" painted on the other.

"Vote right now," said Emery. "Everybody needs to be encouraged and reminded as much as possible."

With Halloween this month, some people dressed in costumes.

Janet Koed dressed up as a witch and carried a sign that read, "Curses on Ice & Lawless Dictator" on one side and "Vote for Democracy" on the other.

She called the heat "wicked."

"I didn't want to come, I wanted to jump in the ocean, but it was really important for me to be here."

Some people brought their ballot to drop off in the official drop box behind city hall.

The Midterm Election is Tuesday, Nov. 3.
