Reagan Presidential Library evacuated as crews battled nearby vegetation fire Monday

SIMI VALLEY, Calif. (KEYT) – Fire teams responded to an 8.6-acre vegetation fire near the Reagan Presidential Library on Presidential Drive in Simi Valley Monday.

According to the Ventura County Fire Department, no structures were threatened during the response that involved around 70 firefighters on the ground and in the air.

Staff at the Reagan Library evacuated as crews battled the nearby flames, but the Library has now been reopened added the Ventura County Fire Department.

Crews were initially called to the scene at 1:38 p.m. and were able to halt forward progress of the flames just after 2:30 p.m. Monday noted the Ventura County Fire Department.

The exact cause of the fire remains under investigation shared the Ventura County Fire Department.
