One killed in Santa Maria shooting, police searching for suspects

SANTA MARIA, Calif - The Santa Maria Police Department is investigating another fatal shooting. Police say it happened Sunday night around 10 p.m. in the area of Boone and Curryer.

Officers found a male subject laying in the street with a gunshot wound, he was pronounced dead at a local hospital. The victim's name is being withheld until family can be notified.

Authorities say the man got into an altercation with a group of people when he was shot. But no suspect information is available. And no arrests have been made.

This is the second fatal shooting in Santa Maria in a matter of days. Friday morning another man was shot and killed. An arrest has been made in that case, police said it did not appear to be gang related.
