Lompoc man facing attempted murder charges in domestic violence incident
LOMPOC, Calif. -- A Lompoc man was arrested for attempted murder in a domestic violence incident on Friday.
On Friday, Lompoc police responded to the 1600 block of West Central Avenue after reports of a woman being strangled and attacked with a gun.
At arrival, officers began an investigation.
In their investigation, they found that the suspect was the woman's ex-boyfriend. He forced the woman to drive her car from a parking lot to the 100 block of North V Street at gunpoint.
She drove to Central Avenue and attempted to escape by pulling her car over and fighting the man for the gun.
Witnesses passing by stopped to help the woman who was able to take the firearm away.
The man then fled the scene in the woman's car.
Officers later found the car abandoned in a cabbage field on San Pasqual Road.
After an extensive search for the suspect with the help of California Highway Patrol and Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Department, the suspect was still outstanding.
On Tuesday, Lompoc Police investigators did a surveillance and made contact with a Lompoc man. He was arrested for a warrant from the investigation at the hotel parking lot on the 1200 block of North H Street.
This is an ongoing investigation.
