Santa Maria High School seniors celebrated as they look forward to college
SANTA MARIA, Calif. -- Santa Maria High School seniors who have already met the requirements to attend universities were honored with a drive-thru event Thursday.
“Over the past few years, these students have risen to the challenging course work; they deserve recognition for the dedication they have committed to their education,’’ said assistant principal Monica Pallan. “Students will get a student action plan that will help them navigate the upcoming senior year. All staff is welcome to join but please remember your mask.’’
About 250 high school students were recognized.
"I got a certificate and my transcripts and some information about college and all of these things," Santa Maria High School senior Fred Gonzalez said.
The seniors received a certificate, lawn sign, and a senior toolkit to help them navigate the upcoming school year.
"I feel amazing because all my hard work has paid off so far," Christina Regaled said.
School staff members say these students have been working very hard.
"It makes me very happy and proud of our students especially because these are very difficult times and they’re working very very hard to continue on and pursue their education after high school," Santa Maria High School Counselor Maria Fruge said.
