SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY, Calif. - CHP officers say a Newhall man was killed in a weekend crash in rural Arroyo Grande.

It happened around 10:20 p.m. Saturday on private property off Huasna Road near Saucelito Creek Road.

Investigators say Mirko Malobabich, 31, of Newhall was driving a military-style Jeep at about 30 miles an hour when he made an unsafe turning movement and caused the vehicle to overturn.

Malobabich and the three passengers in the Jeep were thrown out.

Malobabich died from his injuries at the scene.

Investigators say he was not wearing his seatbelt.

The other passengers, who were from Newhall, Valencia, and Santa Clarita, had non-life threatening injuries.

Investigators say it's unclear if alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash, and it is still under investigation.
