UCSB police investigating rape at Sigma Pi Fraternity

Isla Vista, Calif. - The UCSB Police Department is investigating a rape reported at a fraternity, making it the third sexual assault reported at the fraternity this month.

The university sent an email to the campus community Monday night, saying a rape had been reported inside a bedroom at the Sigma Pi Fraternity. Police say it happened Sunday evening.

University police say the attacker is described as being a white male adult, 22 years old, 5'10", with medium-length brown hair and brown eyes. Officers say he was last seen wearing a white short and blue shorts.

Investigators say the report was filed anonymously, and the person who reported the rape did not know the attacker.

Just last week, the Isla Vista Community Services District said two incidents of sexual assault had been reported in the past month at the same fraternity. The Community Services District said those incidents were separate from two other incidents involving date rape drugs being used at a fraternity event on October 5.

Anyone with information on this latest case is asked to contact the UCSB Police Department at 805-893-3446.
