LOMPOC, Calif. - Work was set to begin this week on a stretch of Highway 246 just outside of Lompoc.

On Tuesday, Caltrans will begin a two-day project to resurface the highway between Sweeney Road and Mission Gate Road.

The highway will be closed in both directions in that location from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day during the project.

Drivers who are heading west to Lompoc can detour onto Purisima Road and then to Highway 1.

Drivers heading east to Buellton can detour onto Highway 1, which is also H Street, and then to Purisima Road.
