A full-scale replica of San Salvador, the first European vessel to explore California’s coast is visiting Santa Barbara.

The original galleon, later nicknamed the “Mayflower of the West,” first sailed in 1542.

The replica will host tours daily and a chance to sail at sea. It’s docked in front of the Santa Barbara Maritime Museum until May 23.
