Blondes vs. Brunettes Hope to Tackle Alzheimer’s Disease

Blondes and brunettes battled it out in a charity powderpuff football game for charity on Saturday.

The flag football players are young professionals who raised money for the Central Coast Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association.

The fundraiser took place at the Santa Barbara Polo and Racquet Club on Saturday.

“These women know that they don’t cure it today, it’ll go from as I like to say my disease to their disease and they’re not only raising money for the cause, but they’re bringing awareness to the community,” said Rhonda Spiegel, the executive director of Central Coast Chapter of Alzheimer’s Assocation.

Every dollar raised will go back into the community to help people and families affected by the disease.

“In my work everyday, I interact with families and individuals that are affected by this dis and I can see the toll it takes not only on the patients, but their whole families. So I really feel like our generation can make difference,” said Kiersten Hess, the blonde team captain.

Blondes won the game by one touchdown.
