Santa Barbara Residents Fight To Beat The Heat And Humidity

On a day like Monday when the sun was shining bright, John Campbell was out working in his yard to avoid sweating in his home.

“My house has no installation at all, so it’s always been miserable when it’s cold and miserable when it’s warm,” Campbell said.

Angel Pachecho has no air conditioning either. He was taking a bike ride to “get out of [his] house” where he said it is hotter.

Pachecho told KEYT/KCOY’s Cory James “it feels like more comfortable outside.”

But for construction workers Scott Carmichael and Ron Langhurst, being outside was exhausting.

Carmichael said he likes “the heat but not the humidity.” On a scale of one to 10 with 10 being the worst, he said Monday’s weather was about a seven.

“The humidity changes everything for me,” he said. “I get more tired. I’m not as energetic, even my tennis shoes start to sweat.”
