Mission for Mentors Telethon Raises Thousands of Hours

“Mission for Mentors” Telethon raised more than 2,500 donation hours Thursday.

The special telethon started during the NewsChannel 3 at 5 newscast and lasted until 8 p.m. KEYT was live in HD at the Paseo Nuevo Mall in downtown Santa Barbara.

The telethon helps match up mentors with young people, aiming to change their lives for the better.

Local law-enforcement and community leaders took pledges over the phone. McConnell’s Ice Cream and Pizza Mizza provided treats for telethon volunteers.

By the way, the 2,500 hours raised is equal to about 47 new mentors who just signed up for the program.
