Area 5.1 Winery Beams into Santa Barbara

You could say a new Santa Barbara winery is out of this world.

Area 5.1 is a take off from the mysterious desert locations where some claim UFO’s have been seen for years. That site is Area 51 in Nevada.

Owners Martin and Mike Brown have beamed in Area 5.1 to a location on Yanonali St. in the Funk Zone.

The brothers have been thinking of the idea for about 15 years, and it came to them about the time they arrived in the United States from “down under.”

The Brown’s also own Kalyra winery. “When Mike and I were given our resident alienship in the United States because we are both from Australia. And then we both got a document that said we were resident aliens,” said Martin.
“We thought it would be great some day to make wine as resident aliens, and we could say they were out of this world, or close encounters of the wine kind,
I think we are going to boldly go where no wine has gone before.
So we’re just having fun with the name.”

The doors opened at 1 p.m. today and the first guests cautiously entered.
