Sinkhole repaired in time for Monday traffic

A sinkhole that led to detours through the city of Fillmore is now fixed.

It was discovered on Highway 126 east of A Street last Thursday.

Caltrans and Public Works detoured traffic through town as they poured concrete to fill it.

Ventura County sheriff’s spokesman Capt. Don Aguilar said they still don’t know what caused it.

Aguilar said a water leak is not to blame.

He said repair crews thought it was a small hole until they started digging and found the whole beneath the surface grew larger.

No accidents resulted from the sinkhole.
