Dons outslug Royals 12-9

Santa Barbara High School has struggled to score this year but the bats are making some noise late in the year. Connor McManigal slugged his third homer in the past two games and drove in five runs to help the Dons outlast San Marcos 12-9.

McManigal’s three-run homer highlighted a five-run third inning as Santa Barbara jumped out to a 9-1 lead. But the Royals came back with five runs of their own in the bottom of the third but never got closer than three runs.

Each team made three errors but the Dons will take the sloppy win as they stay one game back of Dos Pueblos for first place in the Channel League. DP won at Ventura 6-0.
