Local students compete in math competition

Local high schools flexed their math muscles Saturday at the annual mathematics contest at Westmont College.

Ten high school teams battled it out with written exams, and a team competition with buzzers modeled after the popular college bowl TV show.

Teams from Dos Pueblos, San Marcos, and Cate Schools, took first and second place in several categories:

Grades 9-10 College Bowl
First Place: Dos Pueblos; Second Place: La Caada

Grades 9-10 Written Exam
First Place: La Caada; Second Place: San Marcos

Grades 9-10 Team Award
First Place: La Caada; Second Place: Dos Pueblos

Grades 11-12 College Bowl
First Place: Crescenta Valley; Second Place: Dos Pueblos

Grades 11-12 Written Exam
First Place: Dos Pueblos; Second Place: La Caada

Grades 11-12 Chalk Talk
First Place: Brendan Flanney of Oaks Christian School
Second Place: Jonathan Madajian of SB Family Schools

Grades 9-10 Team Award
