Texas Governor courts Haas Automation
Texas Governor Rick Perry has launched a campaign to get California businesses to move to Texas. One of the companies Governor Perry is interested in is one of Oxnard’s largest private employers.
Governor Perry plans to stop by Haas Automation next Tuesday. Haas officials said they plan to talk to Governor Perry over lunch. They also expect to hear Perry’s business pitch.
The machine tool maker has delayed plans to double its size in Oxnard. The delay gives the company time to consider other expansion locations, including Texas.
Assembly Member Jeff Gorell is calling on Calfornia Governor Jerry Brown to get involved by offering tax incentives.
Haas employs about 1,500 people. The company already owns 86 acres of land that is ready to develop.
