Baxter Named Gatorade National Girls Cross Country Runner Of Year

Sarah Baxter capped off a perfect season by being named Gatorade National Girls Cross Country Runner of the Year. The Simi Valley High School junior was presented the award during an assembly that included three-time London Gold Medalist Allyson Felix. Baxter went unbeaten this year winning her second consecutive Nike Cross Nationals championship along with the Division 1 state championship in a course record 16:40. Baxter also broke course records at the Mt. Sac Invitational, the Woodbridge Invitational, the Marmonte League Championships and the Southern Section Championships. She has a 3.15 GPA in the classroom and volunteers at a charity thrift store and on behalf of the American Legion Auxiliary.
