Old Spanish Days announces 2020 theme – ¡Vamos a Bailar! Let’s Dance!

Angelique Davis

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The theme for the 2020 Old Spanish Days Fiesta is  ¡Vamos a Bailar! or Let's Dance!

It's the biggest event of the year in Santa Barbara and one of the most historical events in the state of California. Old Spanish Days brings Spanish, Mexican, Ranchero, Native American and a strong religious theme together to unify the city and relive the elements that make the city one of the most unique in the world.

El Presidente Eric Hugh Davis read a proclamation at the El Paseo Restaurant to announce the theme.

"The rhythm of life in Santa Barbara is measured from one Fiesta to another," he said. "Families gather together, making memories, forming traditions, sharing the pride we all feel in or community."

Davis says the next big event for Fiesta will be the April 18 Spirit auditions followed by the May 16 La Primavera where the poster and pin will be revealed.

Old Spanish Days will take place August 5 - 9 this year.

One of the highlights will be the El Desfile Historico - Fiesta parade estimated to draw a crowd of about 75,000 to the waterfront and downtown Santa Barbara.

There will also be many other venues for music, entertainment, cultural dancing, food and shopping.

Many will be family friendly and free.

Fiesta also has a stock horse and rodeo schedule at the Earl Warren Showgrounds that includes Professional Bull Riding with some of the top competitors in the country.

The event is dedicated to honoring and preserving Santa Barbara's history, spirit culture heritage and traditions.
