Paso Robles encouraging residents to use library WiFi, work from distance
PASO ROBLES, Calif. - The City of Paso Robles is encouraging residents in the city and surrounding areas who can't obtain internet service to use free WiFi provided by the public library.
Residents who can't afford internet, or who live in remote areas where service is unavailable or unreliable, can head to two locations to log in to free wireless internet.
The City has expanded WiFi service at the Paso Robles City Library (1000 Spring St.) and the Library Study Center facilities (3600 Oak St.).
You can stop by the two locations and connect to the library internet without having to go inside. You can work in your car or at a location that allows for physical distancing.
For the library, the city says the best spot to be is on 11th Street along the building’s north-facing windows. At the Library Study Center, the best reception will be in the areas of 36th and Oak streets.
Wireless service will be provided from 6:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
To connect to the WiFi, you must join the library’s secured network.

The city says two local providers are also offering free or discounted rates during the pandemic.
Spectrum is offering 60 days of free internet access for K-12 and college students who don't currently have service. They are also providing open public hotspots throughout the county. For more information, call 855-243-8892.
Ranch WiFi, which provides service to many rural areas in the county, is offering free options for students who attend certain school districts, including Paso Robles Joint Unified School District. Contact the school district for an access code, which can be used here.
"For residents of Paso Robles and its surrounding areas working from home or relying on distance learning, being connected to the Internet is essential," the City of Paso Robles said in a press release.
