Life of broadcaster Ed Foley celebrated at Harry’s Plaza Cafe
A celebration of life took place on Sunday for a longtime Santa Barbara broadcaster.
Ed Foley was remembered at Harry’s Plaza Cafe where he often spent time after his radio and television broadcasts.
Foley worked as an anchor at KEYT in the 1970s and later as an assignment editor.
He also had his own show on KIST radio.
Foley served as the announcer for Old Spanish Days parade.
During his career he met dozens of celebrities including the late Diahann Carroll.
Friends said he would be remembered for his voice, his zest for life and the love he shared with his wife, Renee.
KEYT Senior Reporter John Palminteri said, “He had that vintage deep growling news voice we loved him, and he was a stake in the ground.”
His son Ed said, “He made me who I am today, to always move forward think positive to be smart, to speak clearly, to speak loudly, to say what you mean when you mean it and mean it when you say it, I love my dad.”
Foley died last month at the age of 87.
Memorial donations may be made to Trusted Hospice or the Alzheimer Association.
