Pumpkin the dog hates Valentine's Day. The Santa Barbara Humane Society is hoping someone will change her mind.

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The Santa Barbara Humane Society is taking an unusual route to get one of their elderly dogs adopted.

The humane society is playing up the dog's grumpiness in hopes that she makes a love connection this Valentine's Day.

Pumpkin is a 13-year-old pup that "100% despises Valentine's Day."

The curmudgeonly pooch is more grump than femme fatale, more of a couch potato than a casanova. Pumpkin prefers napping over socializing, but will still give some love to her owner in the form of some toothless gnawing.

For Valentine's weekend, the Santa Barbara Humane Society is lowering the adoption cost for this elderly pup, in hopes that someone can show her the meaning of true love.

Friday through Sunday, Pumpkin's adoption fee is only $14 in celebration of anti-Valentine's Day.

Other animals at the humane society are also available for adoption with a 25% discount to celebrate the normal holiday.
