Isla Vista set for large weekend GIVE sale to help non-profits

ISLA VISTA, Calif. – After the annual Isla Vista move out by thousands of college students, the bulk of the leftovers in good conditions will be fore sale this weekend.

The Isla Vista GIVE program will be in the parking lot of Embarcadero Hall, located at 935 Embarcadero Del Norte.

"People can not believe the things that we have," said Viviana Marsano, the UCSB Isla Vista Liaison.
"We collect between 30-40 tons of donated goods every year.  Between the staff that works here and the volunteers, we work 3700 hours in 12 days."

For days it's all been sorted out and priced to sell fast .
Bargain hunters will find big discounts on desks, chairs, lamps, clothing, kitchenware, musical equipment, and bikes, along with an array of electrical items.

All of the items are organized in sections for easy viewing and pick up.

Rogelio Reyes is a coordinator on site and says, "we try to go around and make sure everything is cleaned and wiped and we make sure there are definitively some treasures here.

There are many big screen TV's, vacuums, microwaves, refrigerators and home electronics.

There are about 70-100 bikes in racks, ready to roll.

All mattresses and couches have been fumigated and given a clean inspection.

Some items such as desks and chairs are pre-positioned. "I  specifically stationed and stage some items together because of that.    So we can get some buyers to come out," said Reyes.

Some of the newest or unused items with high end name brands and inside a special boutique room. They are tremendously discounted from their original sales price, and are among the most popular items in the sale. This includes dresses, suits, jackets and shoes.

There is also one area for fitness and sporting goods, including basketballs, yoga mats, surfboards and bike helmets.

All the money raised in the two day sale will go to Isla vista non-profits. The distribution will be made later this month.
