Paso Robles cooling center opens amid heat wave

PASO ROBLES, Calif. - The City of Paso Robles opened a temporary cooling shelter to help residents beat the heat Friday.

The National Weather Service said that temperatures in Paso Robles could reach as high as 112 degrees on Friday.

The shelter was located in the Centennial Park Gym at 600 Nickerson Drive, and was expected to be open for the anticipated heat wave August 14 through 17 and possibly longer if needed.

Pets were not allowed inside of the gym North County Animal Hospital at 825 24th Street takes care of pets in need of relief from the heat.

Visitors must undergo a non-contact wellness check and wear a face covering (one will be provided if needed).

Members of the same household may sit together. Minors must be
accompanied by a guardian at all times.
